ORLANDO, Fla. (March 27, 2023) — The Board of Directors of Dr. Phillips Charities has awarded the 2023 Dr. Phillips Leadership Award to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida (BGCCF) and its President & CEO Gary Cain. In the innovative and philanthropic tradition of their founders, Dr. P. Phillips, his wife Della, and their son Howard, the Dr. Phillips Leadership Award, which includes a $250,000 contribution, honors nonprofit organizations that demonstrate community leadership, financial stewardship, and sustainable and impactful programs that change lives.
“We are proud to bestow the 2023 Dr. Phillips Leadership Award on Gary Cain and Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida,” said Kenneth Robinson, President of Dr. Phillips Charities. “Dr. Phillips Charities celebrates Gary Cain’s passion in creating a place where children feel important and where they can develop their full potential. This passion has been clear in the programs of the Boys & Girls Clubs throughout Central Florida. Together they have changed thousands of lives.”
The Dr. Phillips Leadership Award recognizes the dedication of the Boys & Girls Clubs leadership, its staff, and Gary Cain himself for their continuous community leadership, and dedicated commitment to improving the lives of thousands of children. Cain has announced that he will retire this year, after 29 years at the helm of BGCCF.
“Through its beneficence, Dr. Phillips Charities has long recognized that real progress in a community begins with serving and strengthening the citizens of tomorrow—our children,” said Gary Cain. “On a personal level, to receive this award at the sunset of my tenure as CEO is incredibly gratifying.”
