Dr. Phillips Charities Launches Inaugural Microgrant Program for Doc’s 150th Birthday Celebration
New initiative celebrates Dr. Phillips’ enduring legacy by empowering local nonprofit groups and supporting community development in the Central Florida Community.
ORLANDO, Fla. – [August 1, 2024] – Dr. Phillips Charities launches its inaugural Dr. P. Phillips 150th Microgrant Program in celebration of Dr. P. Phillips’ 150th birthday. This new initiative honors the legacy of Dr. Phillips, whose philanthropy and innovation have significantly improved the lives of Central Floridians since the early 1900’s. The program aims to provide grants of $5,000 to help support local nonprofits in their efforts to improve the lives of individuals, children, and families within Orange and Osceola Counties.
Dr. Phillips Charities will award microgrants to select organizations in the sectors of Arts & Culture, Children & Youth, Education, Healthcare, and Social Services. Priority is given to projects that decrease economic pressures on ALICE or low-income families or increase literacy among children and adults. Projects that encourage collaboration among community members and organizations will also get priority.
Organizations interested in applying must complete and submit a detailed microgrant proposal online by September 1, 2024. The proposal should include information about the need for funding, organizational goals, a plan of action, and financial documents such as a Form 990, budget, and the most recent audit. Applications can be submitted through Dr. Phillips Charities’ grant portal at www.drphillips.org/apply-for-grants.
Designated representatives at Dr. Phillips Charities will review proposals based on significance, actional plan, and likelihood of success in the community. Organizations will be notified of the decision by October 1, 2024. The microgrant program is expected to create substantial benefits for the community, fostering growth and collaboration among local organizations.
