CELEBRATING 150 YEARS OF DR. PHILLIPS’ LEGACY
On October 17, 2024, Dr. Phillips Charities and United Arts celebrated the generous legacy of Doc’s impact in Central Florida alongside numerous Orlando First Responders, Educators, Community Leaders, and Nonprofit Organizations! The event culminated in $1.5 Million of celebratory grants and contributions. The evening featured exciting surprises! Orlando’s Poet Laureate, Shawn Welcome, performed an original poem created for the occasion titled “The Wilderness” and acted as Emcee. Next, we surprised not one, but five Central Florida nonprofit organizations with The Dr. Phillips Leadership Award and $150,000 each! The Dr. Phillips Leadership Award honors Central Florida nonprofit organizations that demonstrate community leadership, strong financial stewardship, and sustainable, life-changing programs. The celebration, held at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, continued as Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty took the stage for a community concert celebrating Doc’s birthday.
